Wellesley High School Teachers

     Wellesley’s unique contribution to literature includes not only the compelling stories of many extraordinary writers who began their work in WHS classrooms, but also the commitment of WHS’ English teachers.  For decades, this nurturing of young students’ creativity has been deeply enmeshed in the department’s mission.  The teachers of this town have produced hundreds of writers, from Pulitzer Prize and Emmy Award winners to a #1 “New York Times” bestseller.  

     This is an important time for a celebration of WHS authors, and of the remarkable legacy of the school and teachers who have embraced, challenged, and inspired them.  Here is a list of these men and women whom we honor and thank. This list commemorates the WHS English teachers from over the past 80 years.  To their names should be added, in our thanks and in our hearts, the countless elementary, junior, and middle school teachers, and those from other departments at WHS, who inspired, excited, challenged, strengthened, and cared for writers (and all students) along the way.
