Library Parking Policy
The Wellesley Free Library (“WFL”) provides parking in its rear lot and underground parking garage (collectively, the “Parking Area”) for the exclusive use of its patrons while they are in the Library. Use of the Parking Area is strictly prohibited for anyone who is not using the WFL for the entire time their vehicle is parked in the Parking Area. Parking is prohibited for anyone not actively using the Library which includes, but is not limited to, anyone who:
- has concluded their visit at the Library;
- leaves their vehicle in the Parking Area while attending to local errands or a walk prior to or after using the WFL;
- uses the Parking Area to pick up children from school;
- uses the Parking Area as a commuter lot;
- parks in the Parking Area while patronizing local businesses.
Rules for the Parking Area:
- The Parking Area is for patrons who are actively using the Library.
- Parking is only allowed in designated spaces.
- Parking is prohibited in handicapped spaces without a valid, visual permit.
- Behavior that interferes with the normal operation of the Library or the safety and enjoyment of its patrons is prohibited.
- Solicitation of any kind is prohibited.
- Drugs, smoking, vaping and/or alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
- Bicycles, roller skates, rollerblades, scooters, skateboards and other coasting devices are prohibited unless used for transportation to the Library. Bicycles and scooters used for transport to the Library must be parked in the available bike racks. Other coasting vehicles not in use must be kept in a manner that does not interfere with the safety of our patrons.
- The Library does not assume responsibility for damage to, or theft of, any vehicle or other personal property on Library Property. The Library is also not liable for personal injury to any person or persons in the Parking Area, except to the extent caused by the Library’s own gross negligence.
Vehicles in violation of these rules may be towed or removed at the owner’s expense.
Notwithstanding the above, this policy may be subject to exception at the discretion of the Director and/or
Board of Library Trustees.
