Leda Eizenberg

Wellesley High School Writer: Leda Eizenberg (1996)

Leda Eizenberg (WHS 1996) spoke passionately about Wellesley schools’ legacy of dedication to encouraging students’ creativity, sharing her unique perspective as: WHS grad, English teacher, WPS (Wellesley public schools) parent, writer, and Chair of the Wellesley School Committee.

Leda’s incandescent and flamboyant spirit has graced the town of Wellesley in many guises: her brilliant performance as an English star at WHS, and her inspirational teaching of English at both WHS and Hingham HS complement and enrich her roles as Chair of the Wellesley School Committee, parent of two elementary aged children, and writer. Long a student of memoir, she is currently completing a YA historical novel that details her grandmother’s life as an art student and member of the Red Orchestra, a Nazi resistance group in Berlin. In addition to her own projects, she is a freelance writer and editor as well as a curriculum developer. She has done work for the National Geographic, the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities, and the College Board. Leda’s undergraduate and graduate studies include degrees at Dartmouth College (AB English), Simmons College (MAT in Secondary English Education), the New School University (MFA in Creative Writing), and the Columbia University School of Journalism (Certificate). Leda’s presentation at the Roots and Wings Panel on October 12, 2022 was a tour de force.
