Fells Branch Library

Originally a one-room schoolhouse, the Fells Branch was converted to a library in 1923 and is the oldest municipal building in Wellesley. A portion of the Fells branch budget is privately funded. After a recent renovation, Fells operates as a unique and intimate early learning library that offers hands-on, interactive activities geared toward children ages 0-6.

The Fells Branch Heroes Garden is an extension of the interior. Children are invited to explore the four-season fountain, musical instruments, play hut and more. The Fells garden was made possible by funding from the Wellesley Free Library Foundation and the Community Preservation Committee, with additional support from the Wellesley Garden Study Club and the Department of Public Works, who planted and will maintain the landscaping.
