Wellesley High School Author: Abigail Joseph (2000)

       Abigail’s fascination with vintage clothing began with her work with the WHS drama club. Abigail and her mother crafted almost all of the costumes for the plays during her years at WHS. She continued this work at Harvard, along with her passion for writing and literary scholarship. Her delightful book Exquisite Materials, Episodes in the Queer History of Victorian Style explores the connections between gay subjects, material objects, and the social and aesthetic landscapes in which they circulated. Abigail completed her PhD in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia, and she is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Expository Writing Program at New York University.
