  Borrowing Info -- Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  May I return my materials to other library locations?
A:  You may return materials to any Minuteman Library

Q:  Can I request a book that Minuteman doesn't own?
A:  Yes, your request may be through the Virtual Catalog or the Interlibrary Loan Department.

Q:  Does the library accept donations of used books and movies?
A:  Donations are accepted for the Friends' book sale.

Q:  Does the library keep the fines/fees money?
A:  the fines/fees money goes back to the Town General Fund.

Q:  May I take out materials without my library card?
A:  Yes, a driver's license is acceptable; however using your library card will expedite service.

Q:  May I renew an item more than once?
A:  Most material may be renewed once if there are no outstanding requests for it.  Movies are not renewable.

Q:  I've lost my library card, is there a charge for a replacement card?
A:  Library cards are free; there is no charge for a replacement card.

Q:  Where do I find information about library events?
A:  Visit our online calendar.

Q:  I am returning items for a family member or friends.  Can you tell me what they still have out?
A:  No, without a library card we cannot disclose any information about the account.

Q:  Can I pick up a reserve for a family member or friend?
A:   Because of privacy laws in the state of Massachusetts, only if you have his or her card or reserve notice in hand.  Without the notice or the card, our staff is unable to give you the reserve.  It does not matter if you know what the item is (i.e. its title, the author or subject).

Q:  My children's borrowing is my responsibility.  Can let me have access to their accounts?
A:  Once a child has been issued his or her own card, the account information is confidential regardless of age or relationship.

Q:  How many items may I take out?
A:  In general, 10 items per library card, 30 children's books, 5 movies, 5 TV Land DVD's, 10 Audiobooks. 

Q:  What museum passes do you have?
